Privatisation of Aer Lingus

The privatisation of the National Airline looks like it will be a flying success. The demand for shares in the airline has surprised brokers. Aer Lingus sources said "that they were confident they could sell off even more that the 60% of the airline being offered to the market on the basis of pre-float demand".

The Government is retaining 25% of the company and the employees own the remaining 14.9%. Aer Lingus sorted out an agreement with the 14 workers at Shannon on the 20th September and the airline were able to proceed with restructuring the employee share scheme.

The share price is going to be set on the 27th of September and the formal floatation is on the 3rd of October.

In Celtic culture, the new moon was greeted thus:

May thy light be fair to me.
May thy course be smooth to me.
If good to me is thy beginning,
Seven times better be thine end,
Thou fair moon of the seasons,
Thou great lamp of grace.
He Who created thee
Created me likewise;
He Who gave thee weight and light
Gave to me life and death,
And the joy of the seven satisfactions,
Thou great lamp of grace,
Thou fair moon of the seasons.
