An integral part of the Kilkenny Castle estate, Butler House was home to the Earls of Ormonde, who built the castle, stables and coach houses at the rear. Sweeping staircases, magnificent plastered ceilings, marble fireplaces and a charming walled garden are all features of this notable Georgian residence. In the early seventies, Kilkenny Design refurbished Butler House in a unique and contemporary way. The location of Butler House, amidst the charm and relaxed lifestyle of historic Kilkenny City, ensures and experience as rich as the surroundings and will provide you with unforgettable memories.

Location:

Kilkenny in the South-East , is Ireland's medieval capital, with castle and cathedral dating from the twelfth century. An important centre for crafts, Kilkenny is superbly equipped for golf (Mount Juliet championship course), fishing and equestrian activities. Kilkenny is less than two hours from Dublin and accessible to Rosslare ferry port. Although secluded and quiet, Butler House is located in the heart of the city, close to the Castle and Kilkenny Design Centre.

Facilities:

Butler House boasts thirteen special rooms and suites, all with their own individual character. Designed to provide maximum comfort, each has a modern bathroom, and is decorated with soft coordinated fabrics and furnishings. Our spacious superior rooms and suite have bow windows overlooking the secluded gardens and Kilkenny Castle. Each morning breakfast is served in the beautifully refurbished stables of Kilkenny Castle, now home to the Kilkenny Design Centre. The castle stables and courtyard are located just a short stroll through the garden of Butler House.

Additional Information:

Butler House has also established itself as a premier location for executive conferences, training and business events. The largest of three splendid reception rooms accommodates up to 120 people. Packages are tailored to your needs, including light refreshments and a selection of lunch and dinner menus.
