Art Exhibition in the Blue Geranium Cafe with Barry Dawkes.
Barry developed his love of watercolour painting in Norfolk under the expert guidance of well known Norfolk artist, Ian King. Having moved to West Cork four years ago, he has continued to paint capturing the beauty of the West Cork landscape in both watercolours and pastels. A full member of the Pastel Society of Ireland, Barry has exhibited in the Societys National Exhibition, in Lisburn, Northern Ireland. He is chairman of the local Carbery Art Group where he regulary gives demonstrations and workshops, and teaches watercolour painting at Adult Education Centres. |

Our craft fair takes place on the first Saturday of each month (excluding January) in the Belmont area of East Belfast. Admission to the public is FREE, so why not pop in and have a browse around. Bat Walk
These Bat Walks begin with an illustrated talk on Bats, dispelling all of the myths and detailing just how marvellous these tiny mammals really are. Followed by guided bat walk with use of Bat Boxes (which allows you to hear the bats, hunt, and communicate with each other) around Belvedere parkland. Walk is weather permitting (bats are far too sensible to be out in the wet or cold!). Wear warm clothing sensible footwear and bring a small torch. Entry is free, donations if desired to Bat conservation Ireland. |

Bronze-casting weekend course
€200 per person plus €40 materials and lunches
This weekend with Helle Helsner introduces participants to the ancient art of bronze casting using a combination of pre-historic and modern methods. You will be able to sculpt in wax, make moulds from clay, sand and horse dung, and prepare your mould in a gas-fired kiln. It may be possible to burn out moulds and melt bronze in the ancient pit-firing process, or otherwise in a more modern gas-firing. You will be able to produce a small bronze sculpture which you will finish with paring, burnishing and patinating.

Sunday 16th May is Dawn Chorus Day, and all over Ireland people will be getting up incredibly early to join a guided walk to listen to and learn the birds’ songs. The National Park is delighted to once again welcome the staff of Birdwatch Ireland to host this walk. Allow 2 hours. There is no limit to the number of participants – all are welcome.
